To manually add connections
- Open Active Directory Sites and Services.
- In the console tree, right-click NTDS Settings for the domain controller for which you want to manually add a connection, and then click New Active Directory Connection.

- In the Find Domain Controllers dialog box, click the domain controller that you want to include in the connection object.
- In the New Object-Connection dialog box, type a name for the new connection object.
Notes
- To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the Domain Admins group (in the domain of the selected domain controller) or the Enterprise Admins group in Active Directory, or you must have been the appropriate authority. As a security best practice, consider using Run as to perform this procedure.

- Active Directory automatically creates and deletes under normal conditions.
- If you are certain that a connection is required and that you want it to persist until it is manually removed, create a connection manually.
